Tourism villages have increasingly been promoted as strategic instruments for local economic development and regional revitalization. However, their long-term sustainability depends on the extent to which economic benefits are effectively generated and perceived by local communities. Despite the expanding literature on tourism villages, systematic mapping of research trends and integration of economic benefit concepts within tourism village development remain limited. This study aims to analyze research trends, thematic evolution, and scholarly influence related to economic benefits in tourism village development during the 2020–2025 period. A bibliometric research design was applied using Scopus-indexed publications as the primary data source. Data were collected through a structured keyword search, producing 113 eligible documents for analysis. Quantitative descriptive techniques were employed using VOSviewer and Biblioshiny R to examine publication growth, collaboration networks, and thematic structures. The findings indicate a substantial increase in research output, accompanied by a thematic shift from normative perspectives, such as poverty alleviation, toward performance-oriented approaches, including economic impact assessment, cost– benefit analysis, and income optimization. Research contributions are dominated by developing countries, particularly Indonesia and China. However, linkages between economic benefits and environmental protection remain insufficiently explored. This study provides theoretical clarification and practical guidance for developing evidence-based tourism village policies.
