CREATIVE ECONOMY DEVELOPMENT BASED ON LOCAL WISDOM: A CASE STUDY IN PANGLIPURAN VILLAGE, BALI

Abstract

Creative Creative economic development rooted in local wisdom offers a strategic pathway to achieving sustainable, culturally grounded progress in tourism villages. This study focuses on Panglipuran Village in Bali, a community renowned for its cultural integrity and environmental stewardship. Using a qualitative case study approach through extensive literature review, the research investigates how traditional values, such as Tri Hita Karana, customary spatial planning, and cultural preservation, inform and sustain various forms of creative economy, including bamboo crafts, culinary heritage, homestays, and cultural performances. Beyond mapping existing practices, this study proposes an integrative and adaptive development model that combines local wisdom with digital transformation and participatory economic structures. The model positions local knowledge not merely as heritage, but as a dynamic framework for innovation, inclusion, and ecological balance. The findings contribute to broader discussions on how indigenous cultural systems can be effectively mobilized to guide resilient and inclusive rural development in the face of global challenges.
